Layer from lightest to richest: cleanser, serum, moisturiser, then SPF in the morning. Allow each layer a moment to settle. If you use more than one active serum, a simple AM and PM split is often easier to tolerate.
The simple layering order
Cleanser comes first. Follow with your treatment serum, then moisturiser. SPF is always the final morning step. Apply thinner water-based textures before richer creams so each product can sit comfortably on the skin.
A minimum routine can be just four steps: cleanser, one active serum, moisturiser and SPF. More products are optional, not a requirement.
If you use more than one serum
Keep the routine easy to follow. Use the thinnest texture first, or separate targeted serums between morning and evening. Introduce one new active at a time so you can see how your skin responds.
The product instructions and your clinician's advice take priority over any general routine. Ask the Doctors Dose team for a personalised layering map if you use prescription skincare or if your skin is easily irritated.

Common questions
What is the correct order for skincare products?
Generally: cleanser, serum, moisturiser, then SPF in the morning. Apply lighter textures before richer ones and allow each layer a moment to settle.
Can I layer multiple serums?
Yes, but keep the routine intentional. Use the thinnest texture first or separate targeted serums between morning and evening. Introduce one new active at a time.
Can I use Doctors Dose with prescription skincare?
Prescription products can change which actives and timings are suitable. Follow your prescriber's advice and ask the Doctors Dose team for a routine that accounts for your prescription.
